High School Sweethearts Say “I Do” at Water to Wine Venue

Some love stories start with fireworks. Others start with pencils, textbooks, and passing notes during geometry class. Autumn and Ayden’s wedding was the kind of day that reminds me why I became a Michigan wedding photographer—to tell real stories, full of nostalgia, intention, and beauty.

A Love Story Rooted in Home

Autumn and Ayden met in their high school geometry class. What began as playful banter over equations blossomed into a love story that has spanned years.

This May, surrounded by lifelong friends and their tight-knit families, they promised forever in a way that was uniquely them.

Ceremony at Water to Wine Venue

The couple chose the serene Water to Wine Venue in Michigan for their ceremony. Nestled among the rolling Ida country side, this restored historic church set the perfect stage for their heartfelt vows.

Autumn wore her mother’s vintage wedding gown from the 90s—a dreamy, lace-detailed dress that felt both nostalgic and timeless. Her bouquet featured delicate flowers, and the entire scene was awash in soft sunlight and even softer tears (yes, I was crying too).

Ayden beamed at the end of the aisle in a black suit as Autumn made her way toward him. The love in that moment? Pure magic.

A Backyard Reception Full of Heart

After the ceremony, guests gathered in Autumn’s mother’s backyard for the coziest, most charming reception..

Some of the sweetest details:

  • A whimsical balloon arch made by their thoughtful neighbor

  • Place settings made with handed-down china from Autumn’s grandmother

  • String lights, colorful candles, and whimsical flowers that gave the space an intimate, homey glow

The entire atmosphere felt like love: familiar, comforting, and deeply personal.

The Cake of My Dreams

As a wedding photographer, I try not to play favorites… but when I saw the cake, I audibly gasped. Autumn and Ayden’s wedding cake featured a bride and groom Calico Critter topper. *enter heart eyes!*

Paired with soft buttercream and dainty florals, it was the perfect mix of whimsical and nostalgic. I’ve never wanted to steal a cake more in my life (don’t worry—I resisted).

The night ended with joyful dancing and every guest smiling, laughing, and cheering for this beautiful pair. Autumn and Ayden, congratulations! May your love grow even more with every day.
