Getting Ready in Dearborn’s Historic Gem

As an Ann Arbor wedding photographer, I’m lucky to witness some incredibly emotional, beautiful wedding days—and Erin and Peter’s wedding at Dearborn Country Club was one I won’t soon forget. From heartfelt vows to lively dancing, this day was full of love, laughter, and a few happy tears.

Dearborn Country Club, located just outside of Detroit, is a stunning venue full of classic charm and rich history. With its Georgian-style architecture and lush golf course views, it offers couples a timeless backdrop for their wedding day. I was look forward to being at this venue for its elegance and warmth and it delivered.

The couple got ready inside the beautiful historic building, with Peter in the cozy and refined Ford Room, one of the venue’s most iconic spaces. I love when grooms have a spot that feels as special as the bridal suite, and the Ford Room offered the perfect mix of comfort and class.

Upstairs, Erin slipped into her wedding dress surrounded by loved ones. When she turned around, fully ready, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room—including mine. She was absolutely radiant, and the quiet moments that followed were full of emotion and excitement for the day ahead.

A Private First Look & Tearful Vows

Erin and Peter shared their first look in a quiet stairwell. Their joy was infectious. They couldn’t stop smiling as they took in the moment, finally seeing each other, all dressed up and about to begin their forever.

Then came one of my favorite moments of the day: Erin and Peter read their vows privately to one another. This gave them space to truly connect without distraction. More tears, more laughter, and a few forehead kisses, everything about it was personal and deeply touching.

Ceremony on the Golf Course Lawn

The ceremony took place outdoors, overlooking the Dearborn Country Club’s beautifully maintained golf course, under a perfectly sunny sky. With rolling green fairways, blue skies, and their closest friends and family seated nearby, it was a picture-perfect Michigan wedding moment. The peaceful atmosphere made the vows even more intimate, and the way they looked at each other said everything.

Ballroom Reception Full of Joy

After portraits around the grounds, we headed to the Dearborn Country Club ballroom for the reception. The space, with its tall ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and classic detailing, created a warm and sophisticated setting for dinner and dancing.

Speeches brought both laughter and tears, and the cake cutting was sweet (literally and figuratively). But the real highlight? The dance floor. Once it opened, guests of all ages hit the floor and didn’t stop. The energy was electric, and Erin and Peter were right in the center of it all, dancing, laughing, and soaking in every minute.

Erin and Peter, congratulations! it has been an honor to get to know you and witness the beginning of your married life together. May your love for each other grow even more with each new day.
